Your time

More Time for Professional Judgement. Less Time Getting the View.

Your value is in understanding buildings, applying professional judgement and advising the client. Roof Hawk takes care of the specialist image capture, so more of your time stays focused on the work that needs your expertise.

  • Review from your desk

Work through detailed roof imagery at your own pace. Pause, revisit and move quickly between wider context and close detail, without another visit simply to get a better view.

  • Arrive better informed

We can capture the roof before your attendance, often within 24 hours in London, giving you a clearer picture of the layout and visible areas of concern before you arrive on site.

  • Put the evidence straight to work

Use the imagery alongside your assessment, reports and recommendations, and share the relevant views when explaining your advice to the client.

  • Add specialist capture without adding operational burden

Roof Hawk handles the pilots, flight planning, airspace, permissions and delivery around your instruction, so the drone operation does not become another process for your practice to manage.

Client value

A Better Surveying Service for Your Client

Drone capture can strengthen the service you offer without adding unnecessary cost or disruption. It gives the client a clearer view of difficult areas, gives you better evidence to work from and can make detailed inspection practical across far more buildings.

  • Better visibility before expensive access

Get a detailed external view before committing to scaffolding or other specialist access simply to understand what is there.

  • Faster, lower-disruption inspection

Capture roofs and elevations without putting people at height simply to obtain an initial visual record, and with far less disruption around occupied buildings.

  • Practical across larger estates

For councils, housing providers and portfolio owners, lower inspection cost and repeatable capture make detailed roof evidence realistic across larger numbers of properties.

The technology matters because it changes the economics of getting good evidence.

Drone technology makes difficult external areas faster and more economical to inspect. Roof Hawk adds specialist capture, programme delivery and an organised survey platform, making the evidence easier for you and your client to review, share and reuse.

In practice

Your Clients Are Already Seeing the Value of Better Visual Evidence

Drone surveys are moving into mainstream surveying practice, and RICS reports a significant increase in their use across surveying applications. Councils, housing providers and property teams are already using drone evidence to understand buildings earlier, reduce unnecessary inspection access and make maintenance decisions with a clearer view. For surveyors, that means both a more efficient way to work and a service clients are increasingly likely to recognise and value.

  • Housing associations & councils

Published examples show housing providers using drones for planned and reactive inspections, identifying defects that are difficult to see from the ground and establishing what work is needed before committing to scaffolding.

  • Property owners & portfolios

For clients responsible for multiple buildings, lower-cost inspection makes detailed roof evidence practical across more of the portfolio, not only where a problem has already become urgent.

  • Residential clients

For homebuyers, particularly where a Level 3 Building Survey is appropriate, drone imagery can add a clear view of roof areas, chimneys, parapets and rainwater systems that may be difficult to see from ground level. It can also support other residential defect and maintenance work where a better external view is useful.

Client communication

Better Evidence Makes Recommendations Easier to Explain

Clear visual evidence helps clients understand what you are seeing. Instead of explaining a difficult roof detail from notes alone, you can return to the imagery, show the relevant area and give your advice in context.

That becomes particularly useful where several people are involved in the decision (an asset team, contractor, board, managing agent or end client), because everyone can work from the same view of the building.

“The level of detail is excellent, and from our side it meant we could answer any question the client threw at us.”

Specialist capture

The View You Need, Captured Around Your Brief

Tell us the building elements, areas of concern and questions you want the imagery to help answer. We brief the pilot around that purpose so the footage is useful when it reaches your desk.

Our pilots combine wider context views with close detail and film at a pace that makes the roof easy to follow and quick to review. That means less time working out where you are in the footage and more time assessing what it shows.

For repeat work, we learn how you like the imagery captured and refine the approach around your reporting style, clients and programme.

“They understand the importance of recording speed and the proximity of the drone to the building to get good results.”

Useful evidence

One Clear Record, Shared Across the Team

Imagery is organised by property or instruction, ready to review, download and share with colleagues, clients and contractors.

Our survey platform keeps the evidence easy to find and revisit. Where your practice or client already uses its own document, asset or project systems, we can also supply the imagery in a structured format that fits the existing workflow.

With repeat surveys, the record builds over time. Earlier imagery can be brought back into later assessments, making it easier to compare visible condition and revisit previous areas of concern.

The process

From Planning to Delivery, We Take Care of the Drone Survey

  1. 01

    Tell Us Your Objectives

Send the property, address list or sample sites, together with what you need to assess and how the imagery will be used. We agree the areas to capture, outputs and timetable.

  2. 02

    We Plan and Coordinate

We handle flight planning, restricted-airspace checks, required permissions and site coordination. Where you are working for another client, we can work through your team and existing site contacts.

  3. 03

    CAA-Qualified Pilots Capture the Evidence

Our pilots work from your brief, capturing the agreed roof and elevation areas with wider context and close detail so the footage remains easy to interpret later.

  4. 04

    We Deliver, Listen and Improve

Evidence is organised by property and delivered around your timetable, through the Roof Hawk platform or in a structured format that fits your own systems and workflow. After an initial survey or batch, we ask what could work better and tune the capture, delivery and workflow for the next cycle.

Ongoing investment in our drone technology and survey platform helps us keep improving quality and cost efficiency over time.

Working together

A Specialist Partner That Works Like Part of Your Team

We regularly work as a specialist subcontractor within wider professional instructions, from individual surveys to large property programmes. We take time to understand how you work, what your client expects and what will make the imagery genuinely useful.

That means more than flying. We plan around occupied buildings, communicate with site contacts, handle permissions and brief the pilot properly before attendance. When we work on your behalf, we represent your team professionally.

We’re proud that much of our work comes from repeat customers. We put the same care into communication and delivery as we do into the quality of the imagery.

Pricing

Easy to Price Into Your Client Work

We can quote from a single property, an address list or representative sample sites, giving you a clear cost to build into your proposal, tender or wider service.

For larger instructions, lower per-survey rates and agreed pricing bands make drone capture increasingly affordable at volume. We’ll work with you to structure the pricing so the economics make sense across your client’s programme.

If the final property list is not known yet, send representative sites and the likely volume and we can give you a practical basis for pricing.

London and UK-Wide Work

We work across London and support surveying instructions throughout the UK, organising pilots and delivery around your sites and timetable.

Questions

Questions Surveyors Often Ask Us

Do we need to attend the survey?

Usually not. Most surveys can be completed externally once the brief and access arrangements are clear. You are always welcome to attend where you want to work through particular areas with the pilot.

What do you take care of from a safety and regulatory perspective?

Once instructed, we take care of the drone operation from start to finish. That includes CAA-qualified pilots, £5m public liability insurance, flight planning, site-specific risk assessment, airspace checks, required permissions and operational paperwork.

Can you work in restricted London airspace?

Yes. We regularly operate in complex London airspace and arrange the permissions required for the location. Where additional NATS permission is needed, it typically adds around seven days to the lead time.

How quickly can you attend?

For urgent London work, we can often mobilise a pilot within 24 hours, subject to weather, access and permissions. We can also arrange rapid response elsewhere in the UK. Larger programmes are planned around your survey timetable.

Can you capture elevations and internal areas as well as roofs?

Yes. We can capture façades, elevations and other visible external areas as part of the instruction, and can additionally provide internal photographic capture where required.

Do you provide thermal imaging, 3D mapping and other specialist drone services?

Yes. We provide a wider range of specialist drone capture, including thermal imaging, 3D mapping and photogrammetry, construction mapping and monitoring, and aerial filming. We continually invest in current drone and camera technology. Tell us what evidence you need; where it can be captured effectively by drone, we can build the right approach around the instruction.

How is the imagery delivered?

Evidence is organised by property or instruction through the Roof Hawk platform and can also be supplied in a structured format for your own project, document or client systems.

Do you offer an outsourced drone survey service?

Yes. We regularly work with surveying practices as an outsourced drone survey partner, often within a wider professional instruction. We can work through your practice, coordinate with existing site contacts and arrange the capture around your survey work.
