Get the View You Need. Make the Next Decision With Confidence.
Managing agents and property teams are constantly balancing urgent repairs, planned works, budgets and competing priorities. Roofs are often one of the hardest parts of the building to understand without arranging access first. Drone surveys bring that view forward, giving your team useful information before the next decision is made.
-
Respond to problems with a better view
When a leak, defect or contractor query appears, get detailed imagery of the roof early, often within 24 hours in London. That gives your team, surveyor or contractor something concrete to review before deciding what needs to happen next.
-
Plan maintenance around better information
Build a clearer picture across the properties you manage, so maintenance conversations start with what can actually be seen rather than assumptions from ground level.
-
Brief owners, leaseholders, boards and clients more clearly
Share the same imagery with the people involved in the decision. A visible problem is easier to explain, discuss and prioritise than a description alone.
-
Use expensive access where it adds value
Scaffolding and other access methods remain essential where people need to reach the roof. Drone inspection helps avoid using them simply to find out what is there.
Maintenance
Better Maintenance Starts With a Clearer Picture
A useful maintenance plan depends on knowing what needs attention, what can wait and where further investigation is worth the cost. Detailed roof imagery adds an important part of that picture without turning every inspection into an access project.
That principle is reflected in professional and public-sector guidance. RICS links understanding current building condition with planning future maintenance investment, while HM Treasury’s maintenance framework emphasises regular inspection and reducing reactive maintenance over time.

In practice
Property Teams Are Already Changing How They Inspect Roofs
Across housing, public estates and larger property portfolios, drone inspection is increasingly being used to understand difficult areas earlier, reduce unnecessary inspection access and make repair and maintenance decisions with a clearer view.

The economics
Better Roof Evidence, Without the Usual Access Cost and Risk
The technology matters because it changes the economics of getting good evidence. A detailed external view can be obtained earlier and at far lower cost than arranging physical access simply for an initial inspection.
Across a portfolio, that matters even more. Lower inspection cost makes it practical to look at more buildings, investigate problems sooner and use regular roof inspection as part of maintenance rather than reserving it for the most urgent cases.
-
Inspect before committing to access
Understand visible condition first, then decide where scaffolding, closer investigation or repair access is worth the cost.
-
Review more properties efficiently
Our pilots capture roofs methodically, with wider context and close detail that makes the imagery quick to navigate and review across multiple buildings.
-
Keep the information useful
Roof Hawk organises the imagery property by property, making it easy to share with surveyors, contractors, owners and colleagues.
-
Improve the economics further at volume
Programme pricing, efficient scheduling and our survey platform reduce the operational burden as the number of properties grows.
Drone technology makes good evidence cheaper to collect. Roof Hawk makes it easier to use across your portfolio.

Start with one difficult property, a small group of buildings or a representative sample. We can learn what is most useful to your team and shape the wider approach from there.
Organised evidence
One Clear Record, Shared Across the Team
Our survey platform keeps evidence organised by property, ready to find, review and share. Where your organisation already uses an asset, property or document-management system, we can also supply imagery in a structured format that fits your existing workflow.
With repeat surveys, that record builds over time. Earlier imagery can be brought back into later decisions, making it easier to revisit previous issues, compare visible condition and see what has changed.
“The level of detail is excellent, and from our side it meant we could answer any question the client threw at us.”
Working together
One Partner, Across the Properties You Manage
Repeat work becomes easier when the service already understands your buildings, priorities and way of working. We learn how your team uses the imagery and refine the capture, communication and delivery around what is most useful.
For larger portfolios, we organise pilots and routes around the programme rather than treating every property as a separate instruction. Your team has one relationship, one approach to capture and a consistent way to receive the evidence.
The process
From Planning to Delivery, We Take Care of the Drone Survey
-
01
Tell Us Your Objectives
Send one property, an address list or sample sites, together with what your team needs to understand and your timetable. We agree the areas to capture, outputs and approach.
-
02
We Plan and Coordinate
We group sites efficiently, handle flight planning, restricted-airspace checks, required permissions and site coordination, and work around any building or occupier requirements.
-
03
CAA-Qualified Pilots Capture the Evidence
Our pilots capture the agreed roof and external areas methodically, with wider context and close detail so the imagery remains easy to follow and quick to review.
-
04
We Deliver, Listen and Improve
Evidence is organised by property and delivered around your timetable, through the Roof Hawk platform or in a structured format that fits your own systems and workflow. After an initial survey or batch, we ask what could work better and tune the capture, delivery and workflow for the next cycle.
Ongoing investment in our drone technology and survey platform helps us keep improving quality and cost efficiency over time.

Experience
Built for Repeat Property Work
Roof Hawk has completed thousands of drone roof surveys and works with property teams, councils, housing organisations, surveyors and contractors on repeat instructions and larger programmes. Our work includes programmes covering more than 500 properties across Soho, Chinatown and Covent Garden.
The same team also handles complex and sensitive buildings, including the Houses of Parliament. Whether the instruction is one roof or hundreds, the priorities stay the same: useful imagery, careful planning, good communication and reliable delivery.
We’re proud that much of our work comes from repeat customers. We put the same care into communication and delivery as we do into the quality of the imagery.

Questions
Questions Property Teams Often Ask Us
Can we start with one building?
Yes. A single problem property, small batch or representative sample is often the best way to see the imagery and refine the approach before arranging repeat or programme work.
Can you work with our existing surveyors and contractors?
Yes. We regularly work alongside property teams, surveyors, consultants and maintenance contractors. We can arrange capture around their brief and provide organised imagery for assessment, works planning and client or owner discussions.
How quickly can you respond?
For urgent London work, we can often mobilise a pilot within 24 hours, subject to weather, access and permissions. We can also arrange rapid response elsewhere in the UK. Larger programmes are planned around your priorities and timetable.
Does anybody from our team need to attend?
Usually not. Most surveys can be completed externally once the brief and access arrangements are clear. Your team is always welcome to attend where there are particular areas you want to work through with the pilot.
What do you take care of from a safety and regulatory perspective?
Once instructed, we take care of the drone operation from start to finish. That includes CAA-qualified pilots, £5m public liability insurance, flight planning, site-specific risk assessment, airspace checks, required permissions and operational paperwork.
Can you work in restricted London airspace?
Yes. We regularly operate in complex London airspace and arrange the permissions required for the location. Where additional NATS permission is needed, it typically adds around seven days to the lead time.
Can repeat surveys help us track condition over time?
Yes. Our survey platform keeps each property’s imagery together so later surveys can be compared with the earlier record. That makes it easier to revisit previous areas of concern and see visible changes over time.
Can the imagery fit into our existing systems?
Yes. Evidence can be delivered through the Roof Hawk platform and also supplied in a structured format for your existing property, asset, project or document-management workflow.
Do you provide thermal imaging, 3D mapping and other specialist drone services?
Yes. We provide a wider range of specialist drone capture, including thermal imaging, 3D mapping and photogrammetry, construction mapping and monitoring, and aerial filming. Tell us what you need to understand and we can advise on the most useful capture approach.
