In our experience, roof condition reports are becoming particularly common for flat roofs. They provide a clear record of the roof’s visible condition and can identify straightforward maintenance requirements before they develop into larger problems.
Roof Hawk makes the practical part straightforward. One of our skilled, CAA-qualified pilots captures detailed 4K video and still imagery of the roof, and we arrange the written condition report through our experienced partner roofing contractor.
You usually do not need to attend. We can generally operate from the street, and we handle flight planning and restricted flight zone permissions.

A careful look at the roof
See the Areas You Can’t See From the Ground
Our skilled pilots capture the roof systematically, from wider context through to close-up detail, so the roofing contractor reviewing the imagery has a clear visual record to work from.
Where the insurance requirement focuses on a particular area, we can capture that area in detail. While we are there, we will also capture the wider roof as standard so the survey gives you useful information beyond the immediate requirement.
Depending on the roof and the requirement, this can include
- Slipped, cracked or missing tiles and slates
- Flashings and roof junctions
- Chimneys and chimney details
- Valleys and parapets
- Gutters and drainage
- Flat roof surfaces and edges
- Visible storm or impact damage
- Extensions and changes in roof level
- Other areas of concern
Included
- Detailed 4K video and still imagery
- Close-up capture of relevant roof areas
- Wider roof imagery as standard
- Skilled, experienced building-inspection capture
- Flight planning and restricted flight zone permissions
- Imagery provided through a simple link to view, download and share
What our customers say
Fast and Fuss-Free
“Roof Hawk provided a thorough, efficient, fast and fuss free service when an insurance company demanded a roof inspection to be undertaken urgently on a very tall mansion block building.”
“The report was very thorough and well done … and I will reiterate that I’m very impressed with the quality of that report.”
More than the report
Spot Problems Earlier. Plan Ahead. Avoid Unnecessary Cost.
That gives you useful information about the roof’s overall visible condition and any areas that may need attention. Minor maintenance can often be much cheaper to deal with before it develops into a larger repair, and having a clear visual record can help you plan future maintenance and expenditure rather than waiting for something to go wrong.
Once the insurance requirement is dealt with, you can continue to view, download and share the detailed imagery with your roofer or other professional.
Roof condition report
A Simple, Cost-Effective Roof Condition Report
As part of the service, we can arrange a written roof condition report through our highly experienced partner roofing contractor.

This is typically the most cost-effective option for an insurance requirement. The contractor reviews the detailed drone imagery and provides a written assessment of the roof’s visible condition, including any visible defects or maintenance issues.
A roofing contractor’s report will typically be suitable for insurance purposes. Before booking, please confirm with your insurer or broker that they are happy to accept a roofing contractor’s report.
The report is a practical assessment based on the imagery available. It does not provide a warranty or guarantee of the roof’s condition.
If your insurer specifically requires a chartered surveyor’s report, we can arrange that too.
Damage inspections
Need a Record After Storm or Other Damage?
We can also capture detailed imagery of visible storm or other roof damage, including the affected areas and useful wider context.
The imagery and written condition report provide a clear record of what was visible at the time of the survey. Decisions about insurance cover, liability or whether a claim is accepted remain with the insurer.
Before you arrange a survey
A Few Useful Things to Know
Will a drone roof survey and roofing contractor’s report be suitable for my insurance?
A drone survey with a written condition report from our experienced partner roofing contractor will typically be suitable for insurance purposes. Insurer requirements can vary, so please confirm with your insurer or broker that they are happy to accept a roofing contractor’s report before booking.
Do you need any permissions to fly?
We take care of the flight planning and any aviation permissions required for the survey, including restricted flight zones. If a particular site requires anything unusual, we’ll let you know before proceeding.
How quickly can you arrange the survey?
We can often arrange residential insurance surveys quickly, subject to weather, location and any required flight permissions. If your insurer or broker has given you a deadline, let us know when you enquire and we’ll do our best to work around it.
Can you inspect storm or other damage?
Yes. Tell us what has happened and which areas you are concerned about. We can capture detailed imagery of visible damage together with wider roof context for the written condition report.
Do I need to attend?
Usually not. We can generally operate from the street, so there is normally no need for you to be present.
